The Cozy City Builder That'll Absolutely Melt Your Sunday Arvo
Town to City
TL;DR
Town to City is a properly cozy city builder that'll absolutely consume your free time in the best way possible. The grid-less building, gorgeous voxel art, and relaxing gameplay make it a must-play for anyone who loves creative building games. Still in Early Access but already feels polished. Perfect for unwinding after a long day. Highly Recommended
Look, I'll be honest with ya. I sat down to play Town to City for "just a quick look" and suddenly it was 2am and I had an entire Mediterranean village named after my cat. This game is dangerously cozy. The kind of game where you put Spotify on in the background, crack open a cold one, and suddenly three hours have vanished into the aether.

Your train station
If you've played Station to Station (Galaxy Grove's previous banger), you'll know these devs have a knack for making gorgeous voxel games that just feel good to play. Town to City takes that DNA and cranks it up to eleven with a proper city builder that's all about the vibes.
The Freedom to Build Without the Grid Prison
The biggest selling point here? No grids. Zero. Zilch. You can plonk houses wherever you bloody well please, and mate, that freedom is liberating. Want wonky medieval streets that wind around like a drunk snake? Go for it. Prefer neat orderly rows like you're running a proper HOA? That works too. The choice is entirely yours, and it makes every town feel genuinely unique.

The 19th century Mediterranean setting is absolutely gorgeous. The voxel art style pops with warm, earthy colours and the lighting system is chef's kiss. Watching your little town transition from golden hour to a cozy evening with street lamps twinkling? Deadset beautiful. I spent way too much time in photo mode just capturing my creations.
Citizens, Needs, and Keeping Everyone Happy
Your residents aren't just population numbers here - they're actual little families with names, preferences, and sometimes very specific requests. One family might want a house near the cliffs. Another wants to be in a high-density area. Some bloke asked me to build him a hedge maze. A hedge maze! And honestly? I obliged because their requests add such a nice personal touch to the whole experience.
The happiness system is straightforward without being stressful. Keep your residents fed, give them shops and amenities, chuck some decorations around, and they'll be right as rain. The decorations aren't just cosmetic either - they actually boost happiness, so building a nice little park isn't just for the 'gram, it's functional.

Where Time Goes to Die (In the Best Way)
Here's the thing about Town to City - it's a time vampire. But like, the good kind? The soundtrack is this mellow, wholesome mix of soft piano and accordion that just melts into the background. Before you know it, you've unlocked farming, you're managing vineyards, and you've expanded into multiple connected towns. The progression feels satisfying without ever being overwhelming.

The research system keeps things moving at a nice pace. Generate knowledge points, unlock new buildings and decorations, rinse and repeat. It's simple but effective, and there's always something new to work towards. The recent Animals Update even lets you adopt pets for your residents and add livestock to farms. My farmer families now have ducks waddling around and I'm unreasonably happy about it.
Not Quite Perfect (But Pretty Close)
It's still in Early Access, so there are some rough edges. The camera can get a bit janky when you zoom in close for detailed decoration work. Some players have reported minor bugs with road connections not registering properly, though I didn't run into that myself. And if you're after a hardcore city builder with complex traffic management and disaster scenarios, this ain't it. Town to City knows what it wants to be - relaxing - and it leans fully into that.
I'd love to see more sandbox maps and maybe some terraforming options in future updates. The devs seem pretty responsive to community feedback though, so fingers crossed. There's also a third campaign map (Rocemarée) coming that should add even more content.
