Lionsgate has officially confirmed that an AAA John Wick video game is in active development, with an announcement expected soon. The news came from Adam Fogelson, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, during the studio's Q2 2026 earnings call.
Fogelson stated that the studio has "AAA game opportunities and other gaming opportunities around John Wick and Saw and some others that we'll be announcing soon." This isn't just talk either. Lionsgate has been eyeing a proper John Wick game since at least 2022, when CEO Jon Feltheimer told investors there was "a big AAA game to be made out of John Wick."
What We Know
Details are scarce, but we know this isn't going to be another John Wick Hex situation. That 2019 tactical strategy game was fine for what it was, but it never captured the visceral, fast-paced gunplay that makes the films so satisfying. This time, Lionsgate is explicitly calling it an AAA project, meaning big budget, big scope, and hopefully the kind of action experience fans have been waiting for.

No developer has been announced yet, which is arguably the most important piece of the puzzle. The right studio could make this something special. The wrong one could turn it into another forgettable movie tie-in.
A New SAW Game Too
Alongside John Wick, Lionsgate also confirmed a new SAW game is in the works. This would be the first SAW game since 2010's Flesh and Blood, and with the survival horror genre in such a strong place right now, the timing feels right.
What I Hope This Becomes
Look, I'll be honest. When I heard "AAA John Wick game," my brain immediately went to Max Payne. Those first two Max Payne games were something special. The bullet-time gunplay, the noir atmosphere, the way every firefight felt like a choreographed action sequence. That's exactly what a John Wick game needs to be.

John Wick's "gun-fu" style is practically begging for that same treatment. Diving through doorways in slow motion, lining up headshots while bullets fly past you, using the environment to your advantage. If they can nail that feeling of precision and flow that made Max Payne so iconic, this could be incredible.
Give me tight, responsive controls. Give me gunfights that reward skill and style. Give me the Continental as a hub area where I can prep for missions and talk to other assassins. Make it feel like I'm playing through one of those perfectly choreographed Wick action sequences, and I'm there day one.
Remedy showed us how to do gun-fu in games over 20 years ago. Hopefully whoever picks up this project has been paying attention.
The Bottom Line
Lionsgate is finally serious about bringing John Wick to gaming properly. No more spin-offs or strategy experiments. A full AAA action game built around one of cinema's most beloved action heroes. The potential is massive, but everything hinges on which studio gets the job and whether they understand what makes John Wick work.
We'll be watching this one closely.
