▶ TL;DRIt really takes two. It's a lesson in teamwork, patience and laugher disguised as a playful adventure. The art is beautiful, the story is meaningful, and every level feels alive with creativity. Even if you don’t usually play video games, I’d strongly recommend it. It’s a joyful, emotional experience that reminds you that love really does take two.

How It All Started

My partner plays game. And he strongly recommended that WE SHOULD PLAY this game together. I casually said yes, mainly because the graphics looked so cute. Until then, I never really understood how people could spend hours and hours gaming.

I hadn’t touched a game controller since middle school, so my fingers had no idea what to do. But I thought, how hard could it be? (Famous last words.)

The Story - A Marriage on the Edge

It Takes Two begins with Cody and May, a couple on the verge of divorce. Their daughter, Rose, quietly worries about what’s happening between them. In her sadness, she turns to the mysterious “Book of Love” and creates two little dolls from scrap materials.

With her heartfelt wish, something magical (and slightly chaotic) happens: Cody and May wake up as tiny toy versions of themselves. Guided (or maybe tormented) by the overly enthusiastic Dr. Hakim, the self-proclaimed love guru, they must work together through a series of magical, surreal worlds to repair both the obstacles around them and their relationship.

You can imagine, when their journey begins, Cody and May can barely stand each other. They argue, blame one another. Every level takes them through meaningful places such as their old shed, the tree outside their home, Rose’s room, and even the memories of happier days they once shared.

As the adventure continues, their tone begins to change. Through all the challenges and teamwork, they slowly learn to listen, respect, and appreciate one another again.
