Cat Quest II: A Purrfectly Fun Weekend Adventure
Cat Quest II
TL;DR
Cat Quest II is a cozy, fast-paced little adventure that’s perfect for players who want something light and fun. It’s charming, witty, and surprisingly engaging, especially in co-op. We went in expecting “just a cute filler game” and ended up playing the next title right after, which says a lot. If you’re in the mood for cute cats, goofy humor, and bite-sized adventure, this one is definitely worth the 12 hours.
It was a Friday night with no plans. You know the kind... too tired to go out, too awake to just sleep. So I and my partner grabbed the controllers and started browsing PS5 co-op games, looking for something light, easy, and maybe a little bit silly.
That’s when Cat Quest II appeared.
(Well, technically, its reviews appeared first. The game itself looks… cute. Very cute.)

To be honest, 2D cartoon cats and dogs aren’t usually my style. I’m more into emotional storytelling adventures or cozy fantasy worlds. But, come on, it’s a cat and a dog! Who can resist that duo? It wasn’t expensive, so we thought, “Sure, why not?”
🚨We hadn’t played Cat Quest I before, but spoiler alert 🚨: we liked this one enough to play Cat Quest III right after.
Story and Setting
In Cat Quest II, you play as two royal heroes: a cat and a dog. They have been dethroned from their kingdoms. Now, they must work together to reclaim their thrones and restore peace to both realms: the feline kingdom of Felingard and the canine kingdom of Lupus.

The story unfolds like a lighthearted prophecy 'the kings shall return to unite the two realms' but it never takes itself too seriously. It’s full of witty puns, playful dialogue, and just enough adventure to keep you invested without feeling heavy. And... throughout the game, you continue hearing the meow and woof sounds, which are surprisingly satisfying.
We played co-op mode, so one of us was the cat and the other the dog (obviously). But if you play solo, you can swap between them anytime.
Gameplay and Combat
The game is an action-adventure RPG at its core, with simple but addictive combat. You explore open maps, dive into dungeons, and fight enemies that roam the world. Battles are quick and satisfying - every swing, spell, or roll feels punchy and responsive.

You can collect magic spells, swords, and armor, each with different effects. Matching your skills to your enemies becomes part of the fun, sometimes you do need to swap tactics depending on who you’re fighting.
The pacing is fast. Both the cat and dog move quickly, which keeps the fights exciting (and occasionally chaotic). During big boss fights, things get so hectic that I sometimes lost track of where I was - but I kept swinging anyway!
And next to me, my partner screams
"where are you aiming?!" or “Stop wasting your spellssss!” 😭

Charm and Humor
What really makes Cat Quest II shine is its personality.
Every single line, name, and place is full of cat and dog puns. Towns like Pawt City, Furrbidden Fields, and Lupus Empire made us laugh every time they appeared. It’s simple humor, but it gives the game a lot of charm.
Despite being cute, the game’s structure is surprisingly polished. The questing system, the balance of exploration and combat, and even the difficulty scaling all feel just right.

Our Experience
We started on a Friday night and finished by Sunday. It’s not a long game, but that’s exactly why we enjoyed it. The pacing felt perfect for a weekend co-op adventure. It’s the kind of game where you can relax, laugh, and still feel like you’re progressing.
By the end, we were surprised by how much fun we had. It’s simple, fast-paced, and charming - sometimes, that’s exactly what you want.
Final Thoughts
Cat Quest II isn’t trying to be epic or emotional. It’s here to make you smile, give you quick battles, and fill your weekend with purrs and barks.
If you’re looking for something light, funny, and surprisingly well-made, this is a great pick. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just want a cozy couch co-op, this little adventure is well worth it.
And now, whenever my real cat purrs, I can’t help thinking:
